The Canadian University Men’s Rugby Championship (CUMRC) is proud to welcome back Langara Fishing Adventures as a sponsor for the eighth year. Since the tournament’s inception in 2017, Langara has been a dedicated partner, and in 2025 they are once again showing their support with a donation — an all-inclusive trip for two to Langara Fishing Lodge in British Columbia’s remote Haida Gwaii islands, valued at $13,500.
The trip will be auctioned in support of the 2025 Championship, with bidding now open. Interested bidders can send their offers to [email protected] with the subject line: Langara Bid 2025.
Full trip details are available here: Trip Description, with highlights including:
- 4- or 5-day trip for two to Langara Fishing Lodge in May or June 2026
- Return air travel from Vancouver to Haida Gwaii, and a scenic helicopter transfer to the lodge
- Accommodations and all meals, including wine and spirits with meals
- Private 19’ boat, full fishing equipment, and marine clothing
- Care of your catch
Winners will enjoy the unparalleled beauty of Haida Gwaii — home to the largest runs of migratory salmon on the West Coast, abundant halibut, humpback and killer whales, and diverse marine life. Options for guided fishing and larger boats are also available, with the ability to add up to two additional guests at discounted rates.
“Langara Fishing Adventures is proud to support the CUMRC with this donation,” said Rick Bourne, Rugby Canada Hall of Fame inductee, former Rugby Canada President, and long-time philanthropist in Canadian rugby. “As someone who has been fortunate to experience both the values of rugby and the beauty of Haida Gwaii, it is especially meaningful to contribute a prize that celebrates community, teamwork, and adventure. Supporting the next generation of university athletes through the CUMRC reflects the same spirit that has driven my involvement in rugby for over six decades.”
Langara Fishing Adventures has supported the CUMRC every year since the tournament’s inception in 2017, reflecting a shared commitment to building Canadian rugby through partnerships that create lasting impact.
Since its launch in 2017, the CUMRC has been the premier stage for university men’s rugby in Canada, showcasing the country’s top programs and providing a pathway for student-athletes to the provincial and national level. Contributions from partners like Langara Fishing Adventures allow the championship to continue growing and delivering meaningful experiences for athletes and supporters alike.
