En deuxième rencontre de la journée, les Heats de l’UBCO affrontait les Carabins de l’Université de Montréal.
Le champion des Prairies cherchait à rebondir après sa défaite face à Guelph, tandis que les Carabins, pour leur première participation au championnat national, visaient à gagner en expérience et à ouvrir leur compteur de points devant leurs partisans.
C’est finalement l’UdeM qui débloque le tableau d’affichage dès la 5ᵉ minute grâce à une pénalité. Portés par cet élan, les Carabins reviennent dans les 22 adverses pour ajouter trois points supplémentaires.
Déjà auteur des premiers points, l’ailier de l’UdeM inscrit le premier essai de la rencontre. À la pause, les Carabins mènent 11–0, mais rien n’est joué tant le rythme est intense.
Peu après le début de la seconde période, les Heat inscrivent leur premier essai, réduisant l’écart à 11–7 et relançant complètement le suspense. Le match est équilibré, les deux formations se rendant coup pour coup.
L’UdeM ajoute une nouvelle pénalité pour se donner un peu d’air, avant de sceller définitivement l’issue de la rencontre à la 59ᵉ minute avec trois points supplémentaires. Les Carabins accèdent ainsi à la finale de la consolante.

In the second matchup of the day, the UBCO Heat faced the Université de Montréal Carabins.
The Prairies champions were looking to bounce back after their loss to Guelph, while the Carabins—taking part in their first-ever national championship—hoped to gain experience and score their first points in front of their home crowd.
It was UdeM who opened the scoring in the 5th minute with a penalty. Building on that momentum, the Carabins returned to the opposition’s 22 to add three more points.
Having already contributed the opening points, UdeM’s winger then scored the first try of the match. At halftime, the Carabins led 11–0, though nothing was settled yet as the pace remained high on both sides.
Shortly after the restart, the Heat scored their first try, cutting the deficit to 11–7 and bringing the suspense right back into the game. The match remained balanced, with both teams trading blows.
UdeM added another penalty to regain some breathing room before sealing the result in the 59th minute with three additional points. The Carabins thus advance to the consolation final.
