The Canadian University Men’s Rugby Championship (CUMRC) is pleased to announce the official berth structure for the 2026 McTavish Cup, which will be hosted by Trinity Western University in Langley, British Columbia November 17, 19, and 21, 2026.
The 2026 Championship will once again feature eight teams representing regions across the country. The confirmed participating teams will be as follows:
- Coastal Cup (BC) Champion
- Prairie Champion
- OUA Champion
- OUA Runner-up
- RSEQ Champion
- RSEQ Runner-up
- AtlanticChampion
- Host, Trinity Western University
This berth structure maintains national representation across all major regions while reflecting recent competitive depth within the OUA and RSEQ and maintains predictable access for participating universities.

The 2026 tournament will also debut a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday competition format, introduced in response to coach feedback to support improved student athlete recovery and academic balance post-tournament.
Additional updates regarding the 2026 Championship, including broadcast details, operational enhancements and ticketing, will be released throughout 2026.
